Historical character
1. Choose two primary protagonist (hero/heroine)in your novel and explain what their life was like? i.e. where did they live? What happened to them? Why did they do what they did? What choices did they make? Etc...
A.
Captain Smith was one person that helped others and would teach others. In Jamestown Captain Smith became president of Jamestown and made Jamestown a better place to live. He also helped with the work for Jamestown.
B.
Samuel was Captain Smiths page, Smith taught Samuel to fight with a sword and to fire and load a musket. He was taught the native language to help trade and communicate with the natives. Samuel did a lot of work in the community from building houses to digging graves for the dead. He stole baby Virgina from Ann to save baby Virgina from dying over the winter cold.
2. What was the primary protagonists role within their community? Explain.
Captain Smith played a huge role in Jamestown, he was the one that traded with the natives because he was the only one that could speak the native language.(besides Samuel) He also became the president of Jamestown and had to make some difficult desitions. Samuel also played a part in the making of Jamestown because he helped build houses, take care of the sick, dig graves and got to learn the native language to trade and communicate with the Indians.
3. Who was the primary antagonists in the story? What was their role?
A.
I think that illness played a HUGE roll in the death of a lot of the settlers in Jamestown because they had come to a new land that they have never been to before and so you would think that their would also be new illness's. I mean just think about this, say a new plague is introduced to are world right now, well we wouldn't have any anti body's to stop the plague from killing us. The English also brought some new illness's that killed the natives.
B.
Another Antagonist would probably be certain tribes of Indians because they would attack Jamestown. They killed a lot of Jamestown's animals/livestock. They also captured Captain Smith and killed all of the men he had with him.
4. How did the protagonist(s) react when they came into contact with those of other cultures? How did they view them? What did they do?
When Samuel first saw the native's he thought were ok but pretty weird. when the native's attacked Jamestown and killed James he hated the native's. He later found that they were good people but they Just didn't want to be controlled by anyone other then the chief of their tribe.
5. How did the antagonist's and protagonists' lives change when they came into contact other cultures?
When the English came to the America's they found it would be hard to survive here. When they meet the Indian's they both changed their way of life a little to fit both people. The Indian's taught the English how to farm and taught Samuel how to hunt more effectively.
6. What were your principle characters motives? Why did they do what they did?
